August 13, 2008: Multi-Table Success

After returning from Vegas two months ago, I haven't found much success in the online poker world. Although I feel like my game isn't suffering, I just can't win the coin flips needed to find success in a multi-table tournament. Tonight, I finally won some of those coin flips.

I joined a $100 tournament this evening on Full Tilt and 297 other people signed up to play. The tourney started around 6:30pm CST and lasted until 1:00am. Although I hadn't expected such a good performance, I ended up playing until just after midnight.

After the dust had settled, I finished in 9th place. My untimely demise occured while holding pocket 9's. Sitting with a sizeable stack of chips, I misread an opponent who was holding pocket Queens and my tourney was over in the blink of an eye (oops!). However, as a result of making the final table (barely!), I claimed a prize of $1,544 - which means that I claimed a nice profit of $1,444 while sitting on my couch this evening.

Although I've had a tough run the past couple months, my losses haven't come close to approaching the $1,444 I won tonight. So, just like that, I'm up!

Per usual, you'll get a much better look at this tournament payout summary if you click on the image. That's me in 9th place!
